Kigonsera Secondary School traces its origins to 1927, when St. Benedict Secondary School was established using the buildings of the former Peramiho Teachers' College. The college later evolved into Matogolo Teachers' College, marking an important chapter in the educational history of the institution. This early beginning laid the foundation for what would become Kigonsera Secondary School, one of Tanzania's historic educational institutions.
Located in Kigonsera Ward, Mbinga District, Ruvuma Region, the school has continued to build a proud legacy of academic development, discipline, leadership and service to the nation. Over the decades, it has remained committed to providing education and preparing generations of students for academic achievement, responsible citizenship and meaningful contributions to society.
